North in the Morning

Tomorrow is the day I head to Kotzebue, Alaska, via Seattle and Anchorage, and I wanted to get one last blog posted before I leave Texas.  I don’t know what to expect as far as my schedule goes once I get there, but I hope to continue posting on the blog a couple of times a week.  I’m also hoping to keep a photo journal of sorts, with a photo for each day of my three months that I will post on Facebook and Twitter, though I don’t expect to actually post the photos each day—again, I’m looking at posting them a couple of times a week.  I know these three months will fly by, so I’m planning to guard my writing time carefully, as well as to make the most of my time outdoors in such beautiful country.  Right now Kotzebue has 24 hours of sunlight, so I’ve got that working in my favor.

Next time from Alaska…

  1. As for the 24 hours of sunlight… wasn't sure if you wanted foil on your windows so I thought I'd wait for you to get here to decide. Also, I promise you'll have many great pics of the beautiful scenery and the unique life of this little village. I can't wait to see this place through your eyes!

  2. Thanks for all your well wishes, everyone. I'm looking forward to posting more in the next couple of months. So far, it's been fascinating in Kotzebue – small town, great big sky, right on the water, a chill in the air. All you could hope for in the Arctic!

Koreen – Thanks for dropping by the blog! I'm spending the next several months trying to write full time, and I came up here to Alaska to visit friends and find a quiet place to focus. So this trip is a very nice combination of business and pleasure :-)
